Closing for stocktaking

With great sadness I must close the shop doors for a while.

It is getting harder and harder to find the time. Some very nice people have given me a proper job you see.

So I find myself facing stark choices like: make something or notice that I have children. Blog or sleep.

I've started to get my qualified art teacher badge, and hopefully inspire the next generation of makers, artists, bloggers and shopkeepers.

I shall miss this place very much indeed and hope I'll be back to dust down the shelves in the summer.

Your support and comments both here and on facebook - verbal and typed - have meant the whole wide world to me. Thank you.

So my little ol' blog will start and finish with something for a baby, which feels good and cyclical.

And I never did learn smocking.

'Bye for now, and thank you again for stopping by from the bottom of my heart.

  4. I've known for a while that the shutters were coming down, and didn't think that I'd feel this sad about it - I really enjoyed the way that the things I've been watching you making, around the place or in the car, became something different through your words and photos.
We spoke about what this blog might or might not be over a year ago, before you started it. Whilst there were plenty of little, grubby hands and feet involved (as seems to be the way these days), this blog remained, most definitely, YOU.
Now, turn the lights off when you leave, will you?

  7. Wow, a mixture of feelings: it's been wonderful reading and seeing such a creative and beautiful blog. But giving it a rest to show encourage young people to do it too..... and trying to spend time with your own children - those are the choices of a woman who has a lot to offer the world!! Never enough time and too many good ideas. Much love and all the best. Anne

  13. I don't know why but I absolutely love the picture of the books. Makes me think of a nice morning just curled up on a big chair and with a book and coffee in hand.
